Abstract

This article discusses the structural analysis of the arrangement of the song It is Well with My Soul in mixed choir with acapella style, which was arranged by the writer himself. The author uses five stages of arrangement by Singgih Sanjaya as a reference for arranging the song, namely concept arrangement, initial arrangement, modification, advanced arrangement, and evaluation and revision. This study uses the musicology research method, which is fundamental to the study of music theoretically. The results of the research show that there are developments in several musical elements in the arrangement of the song. This is proven from the results of structural analysis which includes: (1) melodic variations on bars 65, 70, and 87; (2) harmonic variations on bars 1–10, bars 19–26, bars 36–43, bars 48–51, bars 87–94, and some other short bars; (3) rhythm variations for the length of the notes on bars 88–94, as well as for changes in tempo on bars 1 and 77; (4) polyphonic variations in bars 44–48 and bars 52–56, then this variation is found in several other bars; (5) the presence of perfect authentic cadence on bars 58–59 and 93–94; (6) the application of dynamics that are quite expressive in some bars; (7) homophony texture and (8) three-part song form with the composition A1–A1'–A2–A2'–B–B'– C–C'
